A killer love triangle left one man dead in Sneads Ferry, NC on Wednesday night after being shot by a woman’s estranged husband in their home, the husband now facing a murder charge.
Local citizens and neighbors of Sneads Ferry took to Facebook Wednesday night expressing concerns of hearing gunshots in the Harbor Point RV community of Sneads Ferry around 10pm, EMS sirens and Law Enforcement “flying through the ferry” where soon after 54-year-old Wayne Curry aka “Rubberband Man” was found dead from gunshot wounds inside of the home. One local said, “Rubberband man was murdered in his sleep.”
After neighbors heard the shooting, they saw John Price Jr. attempt to escape the scene only to be met with resistance by neighbors who were legally-armed holding him at gunpoint on the scene until deputies arrived.
The OCSO investigation discovered that Price shot Curry in a lovers quarrel over the suspect’s wife who was living with Curry. Sheriff Hans Miller referred to this tragic case as a love triangle.
Sneads Ferry locals quickly began to give condolences and expressing grief, remembering Wayne as a sweet, happy guy who was full of life and always the entertainment of the Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival. He will be missed by much of the community for his larger than life personality and dancing moves.
John Price Jr. age 62 is being held in Onslow County jail without bond on an open count of murder.
