Aubrey Joelle Acree FOUND ALIVE AND SAFE in Oklahoma and one man arrested
Aubrey has been missing out of Rutherford Co. NC since Sunday. Reports of surveillance footage showed a white Subaru hatchback to be the suspected vehicle after a silver alert was issued for Acree.
The FBI and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office found Acree safe and alive in Checotah, Oklahoma just before 11p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018. Troopers with the OK Highway Patrol and special agenstand task force officers with FBI Oklahoma City Field Office found Aubrey and arrested 23 year-old Jacob Gardea of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Gardea is facing charges in the state of North Carolina for child abduction. Additional charges could be pending.
Investigative work by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, the SBI, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the National Center fcor Missing and Exploited Children, and the Norht Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles led to the exact identity of the vehicle of interest. Additional investigative work aided in pinpointing the location of the vehicle and additional law enforcement partners through other states were deployed to assist in the successful recovery of the victim more than 900 miles away from her natural home.
Aubrey’s family has been notified and arrangements will be made in the near future to return her home to her loved ones in North Carolina. This investigation is still ongoing.
