Two men arrested on numerous drug charges and eluding law enforcement

Two men have been arrested on numerous charges including trying to elude law enforcement.

On January 7, 2019, members of Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit concluded an investigation into suspected illegal drug activity in the Richlands community. During the investigation, officers conducted a traffic stop in which Anthony Dewayne Dudley was the driver. Dudley tried to flee and elude officers. Jacksonville Police Department provided a K-9, Brinks, who was successful in locating Dudley in a field near the traffic stop. During the search of the vehicle, investigators located powder cocaine and (2) guns hidden inside a speaker box. One of the guns had been altered to conceal the serial number.

Dudley, 40-years-old of Cowhorn Road in Richlands was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the magistrate, where he was charged with:

  • Felony Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon
  • Felony Possession of a Firearm with an Altered Serial Number
  • Resist/Obstruct/Delay a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Driving While License Revoked

The passenger and owner of the vehicle, Trevor James Harris was arrested without incident. Harris, 27-years-old of Sassy Court, Richlands was charged with:

  • Felony Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon
  • Felony Possession of Firearm with an Altered Serial Number

Dudley is currently incarcerated in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $23,000 secured bond. Harris, under a $5,300 secured bond. Both men have their first court appearance January 8, 2019.
