Jacksonville man arrested for distributing private images over Facebook
A Jacksonville man has been arrested for distributing private images of an acquaintance on Facebook.
On June 8, 2018 a citizen came to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office to file a report that a man she had a previously relationship with was distributing private photos of her all over the internet. The suspect, Derrick Stokes, created multiple accounts under fake names to post photos and videos of the victim on the internet. Stokes denied the allegations.
Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Detective L. Kensington obtained search warrants to access accounts created by Stokes. The investigation revealed that Stokes had in fact posted the photos and videos.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Stokes. He was arrested January 28, 2019, taken before a magistrate and charged with:
- Felony Disclosure of Private Images
- Felony Disseminate Obscenity
He is currently in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond, awaiting his first court appearance.
