Two men identified and arrested for B&E, Larceny and Conspiracy
On 02/01/2019, Holly Ridge Police Dept. asked for help in identifying 2 male subjects that broke into the gaming machine at the United Discount Tobacco store and stole money. They received several tips and we were able to identify the subjects. Detective Faircloth took out warrants on the following subjects and they were charged with:
William Keith Bennett II, 39 years of age from Fayetteville, NC, Breaking & Entering a Coin Operated Machine, Larceny and Conspiracy (All misdemeanor charges).
Thomas Alton Tew, 40 years of age from Sanford, NC, Breaking & Entering a Coin Operated Machine, Larceny and Conspiracy (All misdemeanor charges).
Mr. Bennett was arrested by the Fayetteville Police Department and Mr. Tew turned himself into the Lee County Sheriff’s Office after learning of the arrest of Mr. Bennett.
In a press release on 02/01/19 HRPD sought the publics help identifying the two men. On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, between the time of 1:30pm – 2:15pm, two white males broke into the two gaming machines at the United Discount Tobacco store located at 102 US Highway 17S. The males stood around talking with customers and playing the games. The males then broke into the money compartment of the machines and stole the cash money. The male subjects were in a newer white 4 door Dodge truck. They backed all the way out of the parking lot onto NC Highway 50 and then turned North onto US Highway 17.
