Man arrested for abduction in case of missing juvenile found safe out of state
A local man has been arrested for taking a juvenile out-of-state.
On February 4, 2019, 15-year-old Alice Morris was reported missing by her family. During the investigation, detectives determined that Morris was in the company of Zachary Journey and the two had fled Onslow County for Florida.
On February 6, 2019, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Detectives obtained warrants on Zachary Journey and Thursday night, February 7, 2019, the vehicle Journey was driving was stopped by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Marathon, Florida. During the traffic stop, Journey was taken into custody and 15-year-old Alice Morris was recovered safely, without incident.
Zachary Joseph Journey, 25-years-old of Hubert Blvd., Hubert was arrested and charged with:
- Abduction of a Child
- Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
He is being held in the Monroe County Florida Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Onslow County.
