Traffic stop lead to discovery of Methadone, Heroin & paraphernalia left one man busted in Hyde Co. this weekend

Man busted with homemade tourniquets, Heroin, methadone and other paraphernalia to include syringes in Hyde county this weekend.

(HYDE CO., NC)- Per a press release by Hyde Co. Sheriff’s Office, Saturday, March 23, 2019, around 9:00pm deputies responded to a single vehicle wreck on US 264 in Swan Quarter. Upon arriving on scene deputies believed that the driver, James Knapp of Maryland was impaired on a substance other than alcohol and began investigating.

Cpl McCullor and K9 Officer West conducted a search of the vehicle which led to the findings of, multiple syringes used for injecting Heroin, 2 of which still had a substance in the syringe, several homemade tourniquets, a homemade glass pipe, and 107.53 mg of Methadone.

James F. Knapp of Maryland was charged with:

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Trafficking, Opium or Heroin
  • Driving Under the Influence

and is being held under a $100,000 bond.
