OCSO Drug Enforcement Unit lead to another big heroin and marijuana bust last Friday charging two Jacksonville men
Last Friday, March 29, 2019 OCSO issued a press release that two Jacksonville men were arrested on felony drug charges after a joint investigation.
On March 28, 2019 an Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit investigation resulted in seizure of a large quantity of heroin being transported into Onslow County. Drug Enforcement Detectives, with the assistance of Uniformed Patrol, Crime Reduction Team, the NC State Bureau of Investigation, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle. During the stop, a K-9 was deployed who positively alerted to the presence of drugs. The vehicle was searched where (100) grams of heroin and $4,675 in US currency was found.
Robert Wealasby Jones and Dishaunn Marquis Turner were arrested on-scene and a subsequent search warrant of a residence frequented by Jones was searched. During this search, an additional:
(24.6) grams of heroin, (14) grams of cocaine, (56) grams of marijuana, (12) grams of marijuana wax, various drug paraphernalia, along with an additional $25,380 in cash was located and seized.
Jones, 37-years-old of Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville and Turner, 36-years-old of Sherwood Road, Jacksonville were taken before the magistrate and charged with:
- (Felony) Trafficking Heroin by Possession;
- (Felony) Trafficking Heroin by Transport;
- (Felony) Trafficking Heroin by Manufacturing;
- (Felony) Possession With Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Heroin;
- (Felony) Manufacturing Heroin; (Misdemeanor) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both men were transported to the Onslow County Detention Center and were given a $350,000 secured bond. Additional charges are pending.
