Tuesday, April 16, 2019, Hillsborough police issued a release seeking information about a shooting incident where a man shot into an occupied vehicle, in southern Hillsborough.
Officers responded at about 5:30 p.m. to the shooting on South Churton Street near the intersection of Cardinal Drive. When officers arrived, they located a victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
An infant child that was in the victim’s vehicle at the time of the shooting was unharmed and was placed in the custody of the Orange County Department of Social Services.
The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white or tan Mercedes-Benz sedan.
Wednesday afternoon, Hillsborough police released identification of the suspect in the shooting that occurred yesterday, April 16, in southern Hillsborough.
Police are now seeking the public’s help locating Elijah Rashad Dobson, 24, who was driving a tan or beige 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan with North Carolina license plate HAM-1510.
Dobson is a black male, between 5’6″ and 5’11” tall and weighing about 130lbs. He is known to frequent areas in Durham and Raleigh and should be considered armed and dangerous. No warrants are on file at this time.

Elijah Rashad Dobson has one prior felony conviction per the NC Department of Public Safety:
- 07/17/14- POSSESS WITS SCHEDULE VI with a minimum term of incarceration of 4 months that followed a probation violation and revocation.
- 06/02/14 OPEN CONTAINER ALCOHOL (20-138.7)
