HRPD- Car tow dolly may also be among recent items of theft

HRPD reports that a car tow dolly could potentially be amongst items stolen in a recent theft case.

HRPD issued a news release today seeking the public’s help with locating and recovering a car tow dolly that is reasonably suspected to have been stolen in conjunction with other recent thefts.

On June 11, 2019 the Holly Ridge PD took a report of a stolen car tow dolly, from 206 Camp Davis Road, Holly Ridge, NC. The victim stated the car tow dolly was chained to a storage pod (conex box) at the location it was stolen from.

The victim described the car tow dolly as a grey in color metal frame with black fenders. The victim advised he had installed a boat winch on the tongue of the trailer and installed a 5/8 in bar to the tire swivels since the tow straps were broken. According to the victim, the car tow dolly’s fenders were beaten up due to use and one of the lights was broken.

The photo provided is not the actual dolly but is a similar car tow dolly the victim had stolen. It is possible it was stolen during the time that the utility trailer and zero turn mowers were stolen. The white Ford Expedition that was used in those thefts was seen towing a car tow dolly the week prior to it being reported stolen.

If you have seen this car tow dolly, please contact the Holly Ridge Department at 910-329-4076 or email Detective Faircloth at
