Forest fire in Sneads Ferry with eight agencies on scene
A call came in to Onslow County 9-11 at 2:57 PM about an outside fire from Saratoga Rd. in the The Preserve at Tidewater neighborhood in Sneads Ferry.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. There have been zero accumulated damages to structures or homes.
The home nearest the area being hosed in the photo above is the home closest to the wood line where the fire where a resident in Mimosa Bay alleged they’ve been told the fire started started.
EMS Director Norman Bryson could not confirm that information at the time nor the cause of the fire.
This fire affects the neighborhoods of The Preserves and Mimosa Bay subdivisions.
There are eight departments/agencies on scene. N.C. Forestry Services was also on the scene installing a plow line to create a break line to prevent spreading.
The Eight agencies on scene: Turkey Creek Fire & Rescue, North Topsail Beach Fire Department, Holly Ridge Fire Department, Haws Run Fire Department, Verona Fire Department, Southwest Fire Department, Camp Lejeune Fire Department, Pender County Fire & EMS, Surf City Fire, Maple Hill Fire, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. Forestry Services.
EMS Director Norman Bryson said that if anyone wants to bring water, Gatorade, or light snacks for the fire and rescue teams they may do so at the command post which set up at the entrance of The Preserve at Tidewater off of Chadwick Acres Rd.
