Midway Park weekend death ruled an accident
Onslow County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that occurred over the weekend.
At approximately 7:30 PM on Sunday, September 29th Onslow County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Hannah Court in Midway Park for a reported cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, EMS personnel was performing CPR on a white male. The male was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:10 PM after resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim, Patrick Anthony Barden Jr., age 32 of 130 Hannah Court 4A, Midway Park and his roommate Joshua Edward Gilbert, age 22 of the same address had gotten into a verbal argument. The second male was attempting to leave the area to diffuse the situation when the victim jumped on to the vehicle as the second male was driving away. The victim fell off the vehicle onto the roadway striking his head on the pavement. The incident was witnessed by neighbors, who attempt provided help the victim. Gilbert also stopped and attempted to render aid the Barden.
After reviewing the incident with the District Attorney’s Office, the incident has been ruled accidental and no charges will be filed against the driver.
