Two felons arrested again for business break-ins

Two felons have been arrested again for breaking into businesses throughout Onslow and surrounding counties.
On August 29, 2019, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office detectives began investigating break-ins that occurred at the Ole Porte Racquet Club and the Moose Lodge in Swansboro, as well as the Brown Derby and VFW Post 9983 located in Jacksonville.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Carteret County Sheriff’s Office, Morehead City, Beaufort and Emerald Isle were working cases with the exact same MO (Modus Operandi) as the cases Onslow County was working. With additional information developed by Carteret County Sheriff’s Detectives and the combined
efforts of all investigating agencies, two possible suspects were identified.
On Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, an Onslow County deputy conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near the Bear Trail Golf Course. Marty Lee Jenkins was arrested on an outstanding child support warrant during the traffic stop. Further investigation revealed that Jenkins was one of the suspects developed in the business break-ins.

Jenkins, 31-years-old of Quail Point Drive in Hubert was taken before a magistrate where he was charged with:

  • (2) Counts Breaking and/or Entering  (Felony)
  • (2) Counts Larceny After Breaking and/or Entering (Felony)
  • (2) Counts Safecracking (Felony)
  • (2) Counts Conspiracy (Felony)

He is currently in Onslow County Detention Center under a
$35,000 secured bond.

Jenkins has prior record in the NCDPS database for Felony Larceny of Firearms dating April 2017 and was given a suspended sentence. Following the conviction, Jenkins served a period of confinement in the NC Dept. of Adult Corrections for 1 year and 5 months  for a probation violation on that suspended sentencing.

The second suspect has an extensive criminal record of felonies for like crimes. This suspect developed in this case of break-ins, Joshua Adam Love also known as “Wink” was also arrested on Oct. 9, 2019 after being caught by Carteret Co. Sheriff’s Office attempting to break-in a business.

The warrants on Love who is 33-years-old and a James St., Hubert resident, were served on him while he was in custody in Carteret Co. Those charges in the matter of Love include the following:

  • (2) Counts Breaking and/or Entering (Felony)
  • (2) Counts Larceny After Breaking and/or Entering (Felony)
  • (2) Counts Safecracking (Felony)
  • (2) Counts Conspiracy (Felony)

Love has past convictions for numerous counts of B&E to a house of worship, speeding to elude arrest, and common law robbery.  He has served periods of confinement in the NC Dept. of Adult Corrections with the total term of confinement being 4-years, 7-months and 25-days.
He is currently in Onslow County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.
Further charges on both men are expected, and the investigations continue. This investigation is a clear example of how cooperation between law enforcement agencies leads to a successful outcome and the arrest of criminal suspects.
