On Friday, October 4, 2019, members of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit conducted “Operation Iron Rooster.” This operation was the result of an investigation that began after the Drug Enforcement Unit received numerous complaints from citizens about drugs being sold throughout Onslow County.

 

The operation was conducted in partnership and cooperation with Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and N.C. Department of Probation and Parole conducted after nearly a year-long operation seeking 42 targets, with 30 being arrested at the time of this press release.

A man and woman arrested for child abuse and multiple drug charges in Wilmington

A man and woman in Wilmington, NC have been arrested on a series of felony drug charges and misdemeanor child abuse after a month long investigation.

(WILMINGTON, NC –) Wilmington Police Department issued a news release that a man and woman are behind bars this afternoon, following a month long investigation.

These arrests are a result of an executed search warrant by the WPD Special Investigations Division at the 700 block of S. 8th Street.

The investigation began in response to a multiple citizen complaints and Text-a-Tips about drug activity in the area. From the execution of the search warrant, police seized 45 grams of crack cocaine (1.5oz), 10 grams of marijuana and approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine. Police also discovered an infant in the home at the time of the search.

The following individuals were arrested as a result of the investigation:

Prior convictions listed or drug related (possessions), gambling, driving while license revoked, second-degree trespass, possession with intent to sell, speeding to elude arrest, DWI (level III) and the most recent listed is a post release revocation in 2017.

Galloway was incarcerated In North Carolina Department of Public corrections in Craven County Correctional Institution for a 2014 felony conviction, where he served 5-years and 6-months and was released in July of 2018.

Victoria Ashlee Morris has a prior criminal record in the North Carolina Department of Public Safety database for a felony and misdemeanor charge in 2016 for possession of a schedule II controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon. She was given a 24 month term of probation and a suspended sentence for those past crimes.

Galloway was given a $3 million secured bond and Morris a $1.5 million secured bond.

BUSTED: Sneads Ferry woman hit hard with a number of felony drug charges

Repeat Felon, Carolee Jane Simpson, 28-years-old of Old Folkstone Road, Sneads Ferry, was arrested June 18, 2019 resulting from an investigation by Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit known as “Operation Royal Takedown.”

On May 22, 2019 investigators with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit investigated the criminal activity of Aryan Kings Gang members in and around the Sneads Ferry Community of Onslow County. Members of the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Crime Reduction Team 2 executed two traffic stops during this investigation, resulting in the seizure of user quantities of marijuana, heroin, crystal meth and $14,612.00 in US currency. Information developed during the investigation indicated that the source of the suspected narcotics was coming from 1417 Old Folkstone Road. A search warrant was granted to search the premises of 1417 Old Folkstone Road, being the residence of David Craig Milam. During the search of the residence, narcotics investigators located the following items: (3) pistols; (3) rifles:

27.5 grams of heroin; 29.9 grams of crystal methamphetamine; digital scales and glassine bags for re-packaging. One of the pistols was reported stolen from Pender County Licensed Firearms Dealer.

BUSTED AGAIN: Four busted over the weekend with stolen goods and drugs

On Sunday, June 9th, Holly Ridge PD executed a search warrant at the address of 412 Salvo Court to search for stolen property. This case is in association with Trey Anthony Romero who was arrested on Saturday, June 8th where Onslow County Sheriff’s Office received a call of an individual in the Haws Run area attempting to steal a utility trailer.

That individual, Joshua Mackenzie Davis, was eventually stopped and arrested by the Sheriff’s Office.  Davis had been staying at the residence of 412 Salvo Court with Trey Anthony Romero. During the course of the investigation, Detective Faircloth was able to determine that Mr. Romero had sold a stolen zero turn lawnmower to an individual in Holly Ridge. Detective Faircloth took out a warrant for Mr. Romero, 29 years of age, for Obtaining Property by False Pretense. He was given a $2,500 secured bond for that charge and the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office filed additional charges regarding the theft from the county.

Davis has a lengthy criminal record full of felonies from larceny, breaking and entering and theft related convictions beyond Onslow County.
Davis has upcoming court dates for several felony charges and traffic violations prior to this incident. He is due in court on July 7th & 8th for the following:

Sunday, June 9th, Detective Faircloth obtained a search warrant for the address of 412 Salvo Court in regards to the case with Trey Anthony Romero to search for stolen property. Upon the execution of the search warrant, two individuals were at the residence. While securing the residence, illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered by officers on scene. Detective Faircloth then obtained a second search warrant to now search the residence for illegal narcotics. No other stolen property was found but this lead to the arrest of two repeat offenders known to the area. Morgan L. Gibson, age 24 and Ryan Grappo, age 35 both of Sneads Ferry, NC arrested on a number of drug related charges.

Grappo was just convicted on May 31, 2019 in Onslow County for drug related charges from October 2018. He was convicted on  possession of a schedule I substance (F), drug paraphernalia (M), obtaining property by false pretense (F), resisting an officer (M) and given a suspended sentence and probation. Grappo has a revolving criminal history per the NCDPS database with drug charges and stolen goods back to 2012. Grappo served a total of 3 years 1 month and 25 days in prison for like crimes. The most recent being a 15 month sentence in the NC Department of Adult Corrections and was released June 2017 on parole. His parole ended March 2018.

Ryan Grappo has a calendared court appearance set for August 27, 2019 for driving while license revoked and reckless driving that are not related to the current charges.

He was issued a $2,000 Secured bond on the recent charges.

They were both turned over to the Onslow County Detention Center.

BUSTED: “Operation Royal Taken Down” knocked the Aryan Kings Gang off their throne in Sneads Ferry

Holly Ridge Police arrested two Sneads Ferry men for crystal meth during a traffic stop

Brian Richard Pearce, and passenger, Ernie Ray James, were taken into custody and charged on several charges for possession of crystal meth and drug paraphernalia in Holly Ridge on Monday.

(HOLLY RIDGE, NC)- Monday, May 6, 2019,  Holly Ridge Police attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. The vehicle slowed down but failed to stop and pull over and continued driving. The vehicle finally stopped and the officer made contact with the driver. The driver stated that he did not have a valid drivers license and it was later confirmed to be suspended. The driver exited the vehicle and 2 small baggies with drug residue were located on the driver’s seat. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspects attempted to destroy the evidence inside the vehicle.

Traffic stop lead to multiple drug charges for a woman in Holly Ridge

On Saturday, May 4, 2019 at approximately 12:30am, Corporal Procopio of Holly Ridge Police Department, stopped a vehicle for speeding 63mph in a 45mph zone.

When he approached the vehicle, there was an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and the suspect admitted to having marijuana. Upon a search of the vehicle, Corporal Procopio located a glass smoking pipe for smoking methamphetamine and inside an empty lipstick container, he located methamphetamine. The suspect, Lorraine Michelle Obrien, 48 years of age from 138 Lakewood Drive, Jacksonville, NC, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Speeding 63mph in a 45mph zone

She was given a total $2,500 secured bond for the drug charges and issued a citation for the speeding. She was released to the Onslow County Detention Center.

A Richlands man wanted for conditions violating his probation was arrested on charges for meth and heroin last week

Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Detectives arrested a man who was wanted for violating conditions of his probation.

Matthew Paul Csokasy, 28-years-old of Old Fountain Road in Richlands, was taken into custody March 27, 2019 in the parking lot of Friendly Mart on Hwy 258. Upon the arrest, detectives located approximately (18) grams of crystal meth, (1/2) gram of heroin and a digital scale.

He was taken before a magistrate and given the following charges:

  • (Felony) Possession With the Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
  • (Felony) Possession Heroin
  • (Felony) Manufacture Methamphetamine by Repackaging
  • (Felony) Conspiracy
  • (Misdemeanor) Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • (Felony) Probation Violation Warrant

He was transported to the Onslow County Detention Center under a $65,000 secured bond.

Richlands man sentenced to 7 to 9 years on a number of drug related charges

Bradley Wayne Burgess, 28-years-old of Nine Mile Road in Richlands was arrested by Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit on November 2, 2017 and charged with:

  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Manufacture Methamphetamine
  • (2) Counts Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
  • Felony Conspiracy
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Today in Onslow County superior court, Burgess was convicted after a two-and-a-half day jury trial and was sentenced to North Carolina Department of Corrections for Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony); Sell Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony); Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Felony); Habitual Felon (Felony) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor). He was given a prison sentence of a minimum 88 months to a maximum 118 months (7-9 years) by the Honorable Judge Charles Henry.

A Jacksonville man has been arrested on numerous drug charges.

On December 13, 2018 Onslow County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) detectives assisted the U.S. Marshals with an investigation of a person wanted on outstanding warrants. During the investigation a Task Force Officer with the Marshal’s Service stopped a vehicle being driven by Matthew S. Lutz. During the interaction with Lutz it was discovered that the Lutz was in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine and cash.

As the investigation continued, additional narcotics and cash were located inside the suspect’s vehicle. Matthew S. Lutz was arrested, transported to the magistrate’s office and charged with:

  • Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Methamphetamine
  • Felony Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Controlled Substances
  • (2) Counts Felony Probation Violation (Order for Arrest)
  • Misdemeanor Possess Marijuana Paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor Possess Marijuana Up to ½ Oz
  • Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia
  • Misdemeanor Larceny (Order for Arrest)
  • Fictitious/Altered Title/Registration Card/Tag
  • Driving While License Revoked

During the investigation 22.7 grams of methamphetamine and $2,779.50 in U.S. currency was seized.

Lutz, 35-years-old of Riggs Road, Hubert is currently in the Onslow County Detention Center under a $116,000 secured bond awaiting his first court appearance.
