Man arrested for stealing from family members

Matthew Seaman, arrested on charges related to breaking into a shed owned by his family members and stealing tools then attempting to sell them. Seaman is calendared for court this morning on these charges.

A man has been arrested for breaking into a family member’s storage shed, stealing a toolbox and tools, and selling them to a local pawn shop.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Onslow County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence on Onslow Pines Road for a report that a shed had been broken into. Upon discovery of the break-in, the victim discovered a large tool box and numerous tools had been stolen.

Investigation revealed that Matthew Thomas Seaman broke into the shed and removed the toolbox and pawned all of the items. Seaman, 33-years-old of Onslow Pines Road, Jacksonville, was subsequently arrested October 11, 2019. He was taken before a magistrate and charged with:

  • Obtain Property by False Pretense (Felony)
  • Possess Stolen Property  (Felony)
  • Breaking and Entering  (Felony)
  • Larceny After Breaking and Entering  (Felony)

Seaman was transported to Onslow County Sheriff’s Office and given a $10,000 unsecured bond, and is calendared for court this Monday morning on these charges.

Seaman has one prior conviction from 2011 in the NCDPS database for Operating a vehicle without license in 2010.
